In this respect, the Koreans historically experienced the “realization of rapid modernization” through their full-out national development project, which was not shared by other countries that had failed in effective economic development to consider it as a hollow dream suggested by the West (Rivero, 2001). This historical experience of the Koreans strengthened their belief in the validity of the evolutionary development scheme featured in the discourse of seonjinguk.
